Transalp Ski Quest- Engelberg to Airolo, Switzerland

Saturday, 19 April - Saturday, 26 April

An Epic traverse of the Swiss Alps on skis! You will connect legendary resorts via huge backcountry descents and on mountain off-piste runs. Your baggage meets you after long days of memorable touring and big skiing. This is a dream come true for commited backcountry skiers.

Some of the best off-piste adventures in Europe are part of your itinerary. Skiers begin their epic in Engelberg, travers to Andermatt, Susten Pass and finally to Airolo in the Italian region of Switzerland. You will need all your backcountry gear along with your game face. Short, steep climbs, rappels and a heli drop are a few ways you'll access unskied couloirs and mind blowing descents.

Advanced to excellent skiers with some backcountry experience only. Skiers must be in excellent physical shape and able to ski for long days. Nature can make this a perfect trip or a battle of your personal mojo. The guides will always put the skier's safety first, so alternate routes may be used in case of high avalanche danger or inclimate weather. This is a true mountaineering endeavor which requires a good sense of humor and the ability to ski your heart out.

4 skier minimum, 10 skier max. The number of guides will be added accordingly.

Skiers should expect to ski 16,500 feet (5000M) to 23,000 feet (7000M) a day.

THE SKIING:
Skiing in Europe is unlike the US. Open boundries, huge vertical, hundreds of lifts and cragy mountains make for daily adventure. Intermediate village to village descents of 5000 feet or take-your-breathe away couloirs are all fair game depending on your group's ability. It is our mission to make your ski experience memorable- we attempt to separate groups if they are not the same ability so each client can make the most of their experience.

WHY HIRE A GUIDE/WHY GO ON A GUIDED SKI HOLIDAY:
Many North Americans would never consider hiring a guide to ski. However, resorts in Europe are a whole different ball game. Literally hundreds of lifts and trams cross the Alps, ski area maps are extremely confusing and oftentimes, dangerous terrain is unmarked. We have gone to new resorts numberous times determined to make our way unguided only to spend the initial 2 days just trying to figure out where on the mountain we took the dreaded wrong turn and in which village we were staying. I like to think of having a guide as upping the efficiency and safety of your relatively short holiday.
Another bonus- your guide knows the best places to stop for vin chaud (hot wine) and cheese!
A guided, all-inclusive ski holiday assures you ski with a competent and experienced guide, stay at a excellent hotel for your money and experience the best food and wine at a reasonable price.
